Ik hou wel van een spelletje, dat heb ik echt van mijn ouders overgenomen. Onlangs hebben we een bordspel aangeschaft via marktplaats.nl. Dit spel heet Scotland Yard, een detectivespel voor drie tot zes spelers.
De bedoeling in dit spel is om Mister X in de kraag te vatten, dit is één van de spelers aan tafel. De andere spelers zijn detectives die samen moeten werken om tot dit doel te komen. Er is een groot speelveld, een afdruk van de stad Londen, waarop allerlei punten staan aangegeven met nummers. Iedere speler staat met zijn of haar pion op zo'n punt en kan iedere beurt een stap zetten. Dit kan bestaan uit het reizen met de taxi, bus of metro. Mister X doet dit ook; hij laat niet zien waar hij zich bevind, maar wel welke vervoersmiddelen hij heeft gebruikt. Eens in de vijf beurten moet hij toch kort laten zien waar hij staat, hierdoor gaan detectivespelers uitrekenen waar Mister X zich zou kunnen bevinden. Het leuke aan het spel is dat je als Mister X moet voorkomen dat detectivespelers aan je ogen en de manier van schrijven kunnen aflezen waar jij je bevindt.
Hierdoor doen sommige spelers een zonnebril op, zodat je niet kan zien waar op het bord hij/zij naartoe kijkt. Bij mijn ouders gaat dit echter een stapje verder, haha.

I like to play a game or two, thats a thing a inherited from my folks. Recently, we bought a used board game from markplaats.nl (the e-bay of The Netherlands). This game is called Scotland Yard, a detective game for three to six players.
The main objective of this game is to catch 'Mister X', played by one of the players. The other players are detectives who have to work together to catch the guy. The board is quite large, based on the streets of London, and has several points with numbers. Every player can move his or her pawn between those points using a taxi, the bus or the underground. Mister X can do this too, he or she only shows what type of transportation is used, so there's no pawn that shows his/her location on the board. Once in a while Mister X has to show where's he/she is hiding, then all detectives are rushing toward his/her location trying to calculate where he/she is tryin' to sneak ('cause they can see what transportation he/she uses).
The funny thing about this board game is the player who plays Mister X. He or she has to be careful, 'cause the detectives can see in what area you are hiding by lookin' at your eyes or the way you write down your location (the number). Some player wear sunglasses to prevent their own eyes to tell the others his/her hideout on the board. Although, my parents are seriously playing this game; which results in some crazy outfits, hehe.
