I've had a busy weekend, I went out for dinner on friday and watching a film in the evening, saturday I went clubbin' and the sunday was planned with a wedding reception. I watched a few films on friday evening in the living room of Anggie. Unfortunatly it's not allowed for me to sleep over, since she still lives in the family house. So I take the taxi back to mijn little house around 3 AM. The driver couldn't keep his eyes open when driving, which results in driving on the right lane of the road. While in The Netherlands it's normal to drive on the right side of the road, in Indonesia they drive on the same section like in the UK. It was quite a ride, but thank god I arrived home safely.
I woke up after noon the next day and going to Jakarta afterwards. In the evening I went to a club called Triple Nine, where they play a lot of techno/trance stuff. While I order a Disaronno my girl is swingin' on the music, great. At the end of the night we go in seperate ways, again.
The next day we both went to a reception of the newly weds, the bride is Anggie's senior from her college years. What I noticed is that a lot of indonesians ask 'how was the food?' instead of 'how did the bride look?' when going to such a reception, which I think is quite funny. But when I arrived on the scene, there was a massive load of food everywhere, unbelievable! Of course, there are more than 600 people to celebrate and congratulate the bride and groom. It was crowded, but also really nice. The bride looked really nice, dressed up in goldish/yellowish colours, like in all Javanese weddings. The groom was wearing a -type of- kilt and 'hat' of the same colours.
During the ceremony I saw many familiar faces, most of them are graduates in Dutch literature and from the same college year as Anggie. They think it's really cool, a Dutchman coming to the wedding in a Batik: traditional clothes for formal occasions. They could practice their Dutch language with me, so once in a while I also acted as a tutor because their Dutch grammar is not really great. But still, my native language is a real annoying one ;-)
